Faster than a normal can opener if the user has experience. The can opener is a small folding blade used to open canned rations (such as K-rations or C-rations) among many other uses. These are NOT Shelby can openers. They are NOT made in the USA. P38 Can Openers Directions & Instructions: Open Blade. Place opener on top of can and insert sharp edge into the can. Twist down to puncture slot in can top inside rim. Cut top by advancing opener with rocking motion. Take small bites. Sterilize before re-use. Tie string through hole opener when washing. Clean opener as thoroughly as possible.

This is about as small and basic as you can get for a can opener. Millions of veterans can remember using these. Simple and inexpensive as you'll ever find in a government issued item. Cheap enough to keep wherever you might need on an have a spare on your key chain. Great for backpacking & camping.Only issue, and it is a variance from the actual military issue, is the one corner is not rounded allowing it to be used as both a flat tip and Philips screw driver.
